- 4 cups sliced onions
- 3 slices turkey bacon
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup white wine
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon thyme
- 4 slices of French bread
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- In a large pot, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- Add sliced onions to the pot and cook until caramelized.
- Sprinkle flour over onions and mix well.
- Add beef broth, white wine, and seasonings. Bring to a simmer.
- Return turkey bacon to the pot and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
- Serve in bowls topped with French bread and Gruyere cheese, then broil until cheese is bubbly.
