  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Shape dough into balls and roll in powdered sugar.
  8. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until just set.
  9. Let cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
